Walls vs window air conditioner
If you look at the big picture, you will see that the two types of air conditioners have many similar components, and work on the same principles. The mains difference is their installation place. They are both more economical then central air conditioners.
Different from the window air conditioner, wall units need an opening with the exterior, through the wall. This means that you will need to make a hole in the wall in order to slide in the piping and the wiring.
Window air conditioners on the other hand, don’t need such a complex installation. You can install these units all by yourself and without any help. The only thing you need to be careful is the size of the unit. It needs to be small enough to fit your window.
If you have thought about changing the units between them, well, you will have some problems. Window units can take the place of the wall conditioner, but wall conditioners cannot be installed on a window. However this only works for some models. Also, window air conditioners will need extra support to be fixed in the wall.
Window air conditioners
Window air conditioners are very easy to install and they will surely cut costs with the installation process. Also they are great as you don’t need to make any changes to the structure of your house, like in the case of the wall air conditioner. They can be fitted on every type of window, with small adjustments. They are also portable, as you can move them from one house to another if it happens that you’ll sell your house. The only disadvantage is that they cover a big part of the window and cuts down sunlight and natural ventilation.
Wall air conditioners
Wall mounted air conditioners are permanent fixtures, unlike the window units. The main advantages are that, on the long term, they prove to be more economical and efficient. Also you don’t have to use your windows. The initial costs are higher, also because the installation is more complex and most of the times requires a professional. These units are great if you have a windowless room or f you have small windows that you’d like not to cover.
