Preventing mildew formation on vinyl siding


Mildew can not only make your house exterior look dirty but it will also damage the surfaces if left untreated. More than this mildew can be a danger to your health.

As we said, preventions is the best way to deal with mildew. That’s why it’s important to inspect your exterior siding of your house. Look for places that are shaded and moist. The mildew us white-gray colored.

Rain gutters

Gutters are important to be maintained. They need to be cleaned and repaired to prevent overflowing water onto the siding of your house. Remove any debris that have gathered in the rain gutters.

Removing dirt from siding

Once a year wash the siding of your house to remove any dirt and grime. Use a power washer for a better cleaning.

Ventilation ducts

When you’re drying your cloths, water may condensate and drip on the house siding, under the vent duct. Inspect that place and see if there is any mildew.

Removing mildew

Immediately after you have discovered the mildew deposit, remove it to prevent further spreading. Use a solution made of 1 part bleach and 3 parts water. Spray the solution on the spot and leave it to sit for about 30 minutes. Then use a scrubbing brush to remove the mildew.
