The biggest drawback is that they are very sensible to weather damage. Moisture is the biggest enemy as is makes the wood warp and swell. To avoid this, the wood needs proper treatment and maintenance. Also temperature can affect the wood

Pros and cons of aluminum storm doors

Aluminum doors are very visual appealing. The durability is the greatest among all 3. They also offer the highest degree of security. They cannot be damaged by bad weather, and are not affected by temperature and humidity.

The thing is that they are very expensive. They can cost up to $500. Because aluminum is heat conductive, this is not the best way to insulate your house. You can improve this by adding some foam strips or vinyl to the frame.
