This is one of the most common problems that a user may encounter with an air conditioner.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Screwdriver
- Replacement drain coil
- Water hose
- Spray nozzle
Removing housing cover
Use the screwdriver and remove the bolts that fix the housing cover. Remove the panel. See where the water and condensation forms and drains. See if the drain coil is damaged. If it is, then it should be replaced.
Cleaning the air conditioning unit
First of all you will need to clean the drain tray and remove the water. A clogged coil or dirt and debris can be the cause of a dripping AC unit. Clean the unit with a water hose with a spray nozzle. Use moderate pressure. Don’t wet the mechanical and electrical parts.
Replacing the cover
Now put the housing panel back on. Test the unit. Turn it on and let it run for some time. See if the unit is still leaking. If it is, then you should send the unit to a professional.
