Many users have the idea that suspended ceilings cannot be soundproofed. This is quite wrong because they actually offer more opportunities than normal ceilings. It is more than easy to isolate your room from outside noises. Materials and Tools Needed
Measuring You need to measure the size of the supporting beams. This is important because you need to know how to cut the mineral wool or vinyl. You can use tiles to measure this. When inserting the wool into the gap, be sure that you will still have at least 5mm from the ceiling to the material. This will help soundproof the room even better. Adjusting fixtures If you have any fixtures on the ceiling, it’s better to disconnect them from any power source and then remove them. Apply the soundproofing material. Installing the material If you can, buy some vinyl barriers that have adhesive tape. You can just apply them to the tiles. If you have simple vinyl barriers or other soundproof material, then just use some sealant to secure them on the back of the tiles. If you don’t want to have any difficulties to fixing back the tiles, be sure that the material doesn’t go over the edges. Let the sealant dry. Replace the fixture in the ceiling. You can replace the lighting fixture if you want. Now it’s your chance. |
