Installing door awnings

This door addition offers extra protection against the elements. You can buy it as a unit ready for installation. You will only need a tape measure, a level, a pencil and a drill.

Finding awnings

The awning needs to be at least 6 inches wider on both sides of the door, and have a 12 inches overhang, or even more. Go to your local door center or home improvement store and find the perfect awning for your door.

Installation

First of all you will need to mark the center of the door and the center of the awning on the top part of the floor. Line up the centers and level the awning. You may need some help. After you have leveled it, screw it in place. You can also mark the spots where the screws should be and drill holes. The you can mount the awning.
