Dig a concrete hole

In case you experience some problems with drainage on your property then you need a sump pump liner and pump. Its installation is not that difficult but the following steps will provide you the necessary information for it.

How to mark and dig the hole

The place where you are going to locate the hole for the sump liner needs to be in the lowest part of the basement and near an exterior wall and power outlet.

In order to break the concrete you will need a powerful jackhammer.

  1. When you mark the hole for the sump pump liner tub keep in mind that you need 3 or 4 inches extra. This space will offer enough room for the pump and associated pipes.
  2. The depth of the hole should have at least 2 and half feet.
  3. Cover the bottom of the hole with approximately 6 inches of gravel. This will keep the pump clean of any debris and dirt.
  4. After the gravel is level, you can set the pump in the hole.
  5. Don’t forget to attach the discharge pipe before you set the pump in the hole.
  6. Another part of gravel is needed until you cover 8 inches from the top of the liner.
  7. After the gravel is set, dirt will fill another 4 inches of the hole.
  8. The rest of the hole will be filled with concrete. You’ll need to carefully level the concrete with the rest of the floor around the sump liner.
  9. If the project is done in the basement, you’ll need to drill a hole in the header to fit the diameter of the discharge pipe.
  10. Prepare a PVC pipe with 8 inches in length and push it over the hole you just made.
  11. After routing the piping from the discharge pipe you can seal it with brackets.
  12. The discharge pipe should let water out at a distance of 6 feet from the foundation.
