One of the simple ways to get rid of mildew is by letting as much sunlight in the room as possible. Because mildew strives in dark places, direct sunlight kills it.
One of the most effective products that will surely help you get rid of mildew is Borax. This is a cleaning powder that you can find in any supermarket. You need to mix it with water to create a thick paste. Then you need to apply the paste on the mildew and let it sit for 15 minutes. Use a scrubbing brush to remove the paste, and because it’s abrasive, the mildew will be removed too.
Bleach can also be a solution. Mix 1/3 cup of detergent and 1/2 cup or bleach with one gallon of water and you will get a deadly solution for the mildew. Use some scrubbing brushes or sponges.
Vinegar and salt
You can also try vinegar and salt. This is a very abrasive product and it can damage the surfaces, but if you are careful you can avoid that. Apply it on the wall and then scrub it off. Use water to rinse the spot.
Commercial cleaning products
If none of the above products won’t do the job, you may need to purchase some commercial cleaning products. You will find these products whether in powder or liquid form. Also use scrubbing brushes.
Painting the wall
After removing the mildew, the wall may get stained, so you will need to paint the wall. This will not only cover the stains but it will also prevent the mildew from reappearing.
