Cool nights without air conditioning systems
There are a few techniques that can help you keep the temperature perfect for a night’s sleep, even after a long, hot summer day. Here’s what you can do.
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Electric Fan or whole house fan
First of all you should avoid cooking.
To keep your body hydrated, avoid drinking any coffee or alcohol. Ice cream, water melons and cucumbers are great to eat before sleep time as they contain a lot of water.
Ventilate the room
All day long the sun shines and heats your room. At night the temperature will decrease but your house will retain some of the heat. The trick is to open a window and let the air ventilate the room. You can also use electric fans to suck the hot air.
If you have a multilevel home, and it’s too hot to sleep upstairs, go downstairs and the temperature can be a few degrees lower.
Getting ready for bead
Another thing you can do to cool down is take a cool shower before sleep. Avoid sleeping in synthetic fabrics and dark materials.
You can use a bucket and some ice. Put the ice in it and then place it in front of the fan. This will blow cold air into the room.
If the heat is too intense, use a bowl of ice and a towel. Dampen the towel and then keep it on your pulse points. The passing blood will be cooled down and decrease your temperature. Spread your arms and legs wide so that heat can escape your body.
