Removing mildew stains from vinyl

Mildew stains are very easy to remove from vinyl. Follow the steps to learn how to remove them.

Tools and materials:

  • Empty spray bottle
  • White wine vinegar
  • Water
  • Mild soap
  • Milk
  • Paper breathing mask
  • Rubber gloves
  • Bleach
  • Sponge
  • Washcloth

Preparing the cleaning solution

A very effective and natural way for removing mildew stains is by using white vinegar.

Make a solution of one part vinegar and 2 parts water and mix them. Put the solution in a spray bottle.

Milk is also an excellent alternative to commercial cleaners. Boil the milk and then mix it with the same quantity of warm water. You can also use a spray bottle.

Applying the solution

This step is easy. Just use the spray bottle and spray the solution on the affected areas. Let it to sit for a few minutes and then use a sponge or washcloth to wipe the stains. You can then wash the vinyl, but you’ll need to be careful to dry it thoroughly.

Applying bleach

Though these solution are more then great, they do not offer the guarantee of a commercial cleaning product. If these household products don’t do the job, you will need to try some bleach products. Spray some bleach directly on the stains and let it sit for a few minutes. Then use a sponge to remove it. Always use rubber gloves. You can also use dish soap and water to remove those stains.
