For ornamental fences, one of the best choices would be lattice panels. The material used is wood and the parts are wound together, giving the impression of an apple pie. Taking to the end such a project may be a complicated task but it can be done if you arrange your schedule so that you give yourself the necessary time.
Basic tools and materials:
- Measuring tape
- Sheets of lattice
- Post hole digger
- Concrete mix
- Spirit level
First you need to establish where the lattice panels will be installed. You’ll need to take
into consideration that the panels will have some posts attached. In the store the lattice panels are somewhere between 4 and 8 foot wide long and it would be good if the panels would be built by the same length.
When the location has been established, you need to start and dig the post holes. To make
your job easier it would be better if you used a post hole digger because this way you will get the necessary shape and size. The distance from one hole to the other should be around 8 feet, if you want to put them at standard size. When the holes are done, the posts need to be placed in them, covered with a layer of concrete and kept upright until the concrete is dried out.
After the posts have been positioned, the wooden panels need to be tighten down from
them. What you’ll have to do next is to make some cuts with a craft knife and then sever the bottom so that you obtain some hanging lengths of wood. You have to do the same thing with every wooden panel after which you secure the wooden board with some lumber.
You have to make the same things for every fence panels that you’ll need and leave them
somewhere until the next day. The next morning you should cover them with a layer of varnish as a protection against wind and rain.
