About miniature roses
Miniature roses have a special effect because of their size. They can be found in any color, just like normal roses, but in a more compact and lovely package. You can keep them indoor or outdoor, as you prefer most.
Keeping miniature roses indoors
Before you start growing miniature roses in your home, it’s best to know that some miniature roses are not that small. Some can even grow to a height of 4 feet, but they will have smaller flowers. You can find though miniature roses that don’t grow more than 5 inches in height. These are maybe a better choice for growing indoors.
Like all other roses, miniature roses love the sunlight, water and rich soil. They usually require more sun than normal roses. It’s important to care for them because they are not as durable as normal roses. They need a lot more attention.
It’s very important to know how to water miniature roses, because, being so small, too much water can hurt them. It’s better to mist the roses and not water them in larger quantities. You should water the miniature roses when you feel that the soil in their pot is dry.
It’s also important to plant the roses in a pot that can accommodate them. If their roots are cramped, the roses may not grow properly.
Keeping miniature roses outdoors
As we said in the beginning of this article, not all miniature roses are small. Some of them can grow really tall and are really meant for planting outside. Outdoor miniature roses can bloom from the early spring until winter. They are quite resistant plants, if they are cared properly. For better protection, in the winter you can cover them in mulch. This will keep the moisture in the ground and will protect the plant from the low temperatures.
If you plan on keeping roses outdoors, then this doesn’t mean that you will need to plant them directly in the soil. You can also use pots, larger ones, hanging baskets, etc. You just need to make sure that the plants are getting enough sunlight.
If you want to plant the roses directly in the ground, then you will need to make a hole large enough to accommodate the roots of the plant. Dig out the roots of the roses from the pot and gently take out the entire plant. Place the plant in the hole and refill the hole with loose soil. Remember to water the roses.
Water is essential for the plant, especially for the first weeks after it has been planted.
