How to make rose water

Rose water has so many uses, that it would be as shame not to make it by yourself. It can be used for cooking, beauty aid, and for providing great scent in your home.

Preparing

It’s essential to use petals from rose bushes that haven’t been fed by chemicals and treated with pesticides.

  1. Take a pot and place a layer of a few inches of petals on the bottom of it. Pour water on them until they are covered. Use only distilled water.
  2. Next you need to place the pot on the stove and turn on the heat. You need to pay attention to this process. The water needs not to boil, only to steam. The entire process should take 60 minutes. You will know when they are ready because the petals will have lost their color and the water will have gained it. You will also see traces of oil on the surface of the water.
  3. Now all you have to do is strain the liquid and squeeze the remaining liquid from the petals.

  • Boiling distilled water
  • Heatproof container with lid
  • Strainer
  1. You will need to place the rose petals in a heatproof container. Then add 2 cups of boiling water over them.
  2. Put the lid on the container and wait for the water the get cooler.
  3. Also strain the liquid and squeeze the petals.

Method 3

  • Rose petals
  • Large roaster with lid
  • Distilled water
  • Strainer
  • Oven
  1. Take a roaster and place a few inches of petals in it. Cover them with distilled water.
  2. Turn on the oven and let it reach a temperature of 450 degrees. Then place the roaster in the oven.
  3. When the water comes to boil turn off the oven and cover the roaster with a lid. Let it stay in the oven for a few hours. In this time the water will cool.
  4. The last thing you need to do is strain the liquid and squeeze the petals.

Storage

When storing rose water, make sure it’s contained in sterile bottles. Place the containers with the rose water in the fridge.
