Add an alarm to a garage door
There are a few things you need to consider in this process. You won’t need any specialized tools, only some few standard ones. You will need to do some planning and also some research on the way the alarm should be installed.Here are the tools that you’ll need:
- Screwdriver
- Electric drill
- Carpenter’s pencil
- Level
- Stud finder
- Drywall anchors
Cleaning the surface where you’ll want to install the sensors for the alarm unit.
Location for the alarm. Find a place as near to the door as possible, and to the top of it. Hold the unit in place on the top of the floor. Then level it up and mark the point where the drywall anchors should be.
Choose the magnetic switch location. Choose the door jamb and door locations to install magnetic switches. The two switches must make contact when the door is in the closed position. Therefore, whenever the door is opened the switches don’t make contact a trigger the alarm.
Drill the holes for the magnetic switches. Mark the place for them. Make sure that the garage alarm garage security system communicates signals from the door sensor you’ve installed.
After all of this, the alarm should work perfectly.
