Removing a metal carport
If you want to remove a carport from your yard, then you will only need a few basic tools. You should be careful though because stell carport can be significantly heavier than wood ones, or aluminium ones.Materials Needed
- Metal Carport
- Ladder
- Basic Tool Set
Siding and roofing
First of all you will need to remove the siding or the roof.
But before you start removing anything, see if you have telescopic poles. If you do have, then try to lower them as low as possible. This will help you a lot in the removing process.
Trusses and purlins
If the structure has purlins, remove them first. These are support pieces for the trusses. Trusses represent the main frame of the roof. It’s recommended that you have somebody to help you with this part.
Girts
Girts are like purlins, only that they support the pieces on the sides of the carport. If you have any, remove them next.
Top rails
Now it’s time to remove the top rails. As you remove the rails from the uprights, be sure that they don’t overbalance and fall over. It’s also best that you have somebody to help you.
Uprights and bottom rails
This is the easiest step. Remove the uprights first and then the rails from each other.
This is all you have to do for breaking down your carport. It’s an easy job and it can be done in a few hours with the proper help.
