Motion Activated Surveillance Camera
Motion activated cameras can be used instead of the normal ones when you don’t have to record images all the time. This can be taken as an advantage because you can save up to 90% of the disk storage space by recording only in those moments when there is movement around the camera.
Most of the cameras that are used today, record all the images on hard drives.
These cameras are very efficient in places where motion can be a danger or sign of intrusion. Some examples can be those areas that need to be monitored at night: office buildings, warehouses or your house.
Some of the top cameras can be bought with a motion tracking system. The camera has some components like stepper motors, panning and tilting capabilities along with embedded software which help the camera to move along and record every step of the target. There is needed for a lot of computing by the software and this is why the motion activated cameras are mostly IP cameras, because this is the type that can be used for such a task.
The capture of images triggered by movement works through these 2 methods: the first one is by using an optical sensor which signals to the camera when to start recording; the second one is by using the Camera’s IP which makes comparisons between frames. This means that the camera starts to record only when 2 frames which come one after another, are different. This happens only in the case that someone or something moves. The camera will stop to record only when the frames will be identical.
