Kitchen island for small spaces
Kitchen islands are great additions to any kitchen, not only because they provide extra storage and larger working area, but they also add style to the room. Even if you have a smaller kitchen, this doesn’t mean that you can’t have installed an island. Here are some design ideas.
Instead of having built a kitchen island, you can use a table as a working area. You can find special table with cooking tops that fold up after you have used them. You can also use a portable cart which you can move around and make more room in your kitchen. This can serve you as a smaller storage space and also as a cooking area. You can even used it as a bar.
Another great idea is installing a small cupboard at the end of your counter top. This will act as a small breakfast area or cooking area.
Furniture manufacturers have come with some great design ideas for furniture in small rooms. Many of the tables existent on the market can be folded when you do not need them. Some can even be fixed to the wall and closed when you are not using it.
If you only need some storage space, then you can add a small pantry to the end of the counter top. This will give you enough storage space for all of your food, spices, dishes, etc.
Try to use every little space. If your cabinets allow it, you can hang utensils on the back of the door cabinets.
If you want to make your kitchen look larger, then you should consider other things, like colors and lighting. Use only bright colors and install strategic lighting. This will give the illusion of a larger room.
Don’t give up just because you think there is no solution. Let your creativity flow and ask professional for their opinion.
