Basic toilet drain plumbing
It’s important for you to have some basic knowledge on plumbing, in case an emergency arises.Tools and materials that you’ll need:
- Rubber gloves
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Salt
- Drain auger
- Toilet brush
- Scouring pad
- Plunger
- Bucket
- Rag
- Wrench
Step1. Easy clean
If you see that debris and water, don’t flow as quickly as it should be, then you may encounter a problem in the near future.
If this doesn’t work, then use the same mixture, but put some salt too. First stop the water supply and empty the cistern. Leave the mixture in the toilet for half an hour.
Step2. Clearing the clog
If the water doesn’t disappear, then it means it’s clogged. Use a plunger to release it. Put it so that it covers the entire mouth of the toilet and the push and pull it with strength.
If this doesn’t work either, then you should try using a special drain snake. Put the snake into the toilet and push it through the pipes. If you encounter something, then push it and twist it. Be careful though that you could damage the porcelain. Just work it back and forth.
Step3. Disassemble the toilet
If the clog it’s too deep, then it’s necessary to remove the toilet. Unscrew the bolts that are holding the toilet in place. The use the drain snake to remove the clog from the drain.
