Cathedral ceiling paintingPainting a cathedral ceiling isn’t as hard as you may thing, but it can prove to be a considerable effort. This is because a cathedral ceiling is taller than normal ceiling and at this adds the decorations. If you follow the next instructions, you will be just fine.
Tools and Materials:
- Telescoping painter’s pole
- Paint roller
- Paint tray
- 2-inch trim brush
- Ceiling paint
- Painter’s tape
Step1. Room preparation
It’s very important to prepare the area before you actually paint it. This is very important as you can damage the walls and the ceiling and more than that, the painting will be awful. First of all you need to remove all the furniture. If there is still some furniture that you can’t move, then cover it with a tarp. Cover the floors too. You can also tape where the ceiling meets the top of the wall.
Step2. The paint
Always use paint that is for indoor use and that has a warranty and it’s guaranteed to last for some years. The color that you choose it’s up to your desires. Before you start painting pour two inches of paint into the paint tray. Slide the roller paint brush into the tray and then remove the excess paint. You don’t want the paint to drip on you or on the floor. Put the telescopic arm to the paint brush.
Step3. Painting the cathedral ceiling
Start painting the ceiling from it’s center and down to the walls. Use a normal brush to cover the areas that you can’t reach with the rolled paint brush. Paint it all and then see if there is a need of a second coat of paint.
Step4. Finishing up
After finishing to apply the coats of paint, let it completely dry. Then, inspect the ceiling and touch up the areas that you are not satisfied with. Climb on the ladder and remove the tape from the walls. Be careful not to remove any paint along with it. Remove all the tarps that you have put on. Now, all you have to do it clean the place and put back the furniture.
