Most of the times, air conditioning units are installed in nice building, that have a great architecture. Outside air conditioner units don’t actually fit in wit the background. The first solution that may pop into your head is that of covering the unit with shrubs. This may seem a quick and easy solution but there are some things you need to consider. In order to cool the home, the air conditioning systems is pulling the warm air from inside your home and then blows it outside. The warm air may kills the plants. Another problem that needs to be avoided is leaves getting in the unit. Also the air flow of the unit needs not to be blocked. Last but not the least, you need to have good access to the unit in case of some reparation. Shrubs will prevent that.
Some of the options available for hiding the unit is with wooden block fences or removable lattice work.

The first thing you need to do is measure the unit’s width and length. Also see if there are any obstructions in the way. Now you can search some covering models in catalogs and make yourself a better idea of what it will look like.
