Main drainMajor clogs can be caused by large objects falling into the drain. For this type of drains it’s best to use a plumbing snake. These can be handle manually or can be automated.
Three ways to access a major clog:
- lifting the toilet will, most of the times, give access to most of the system of pipes.
- on newer houses there should be an outside clean-out plug. Locate the cap and then use the plumbing snake to unclog the pipes.
- you can unclog the system through the roof vent, but this is a tricky operation. This should be done by a professional.
Always follow the manufacturers instructions when using power tools. These can very easily damage the pipes or the drainage system.
