Hydraulic cement and basement moisture
Hydraulic cement is one of the most common used solutions for filling floor and wall cracks in your home. It’s better than other types of cement because it can withstand water pressure and will waterproof any hole and crack. Although the cement is very efficient, it also depends how you apply it to the existing surfaces.
Cleaning
Although the hydraulic cement is a very adhesive substance, you will still need to clean the spaces where you will be applying the cement. This will create an even better bond that will last even longer. Use a wire brush to clean larger cracks and a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust and debris.
Laying the cement
Although it can be applied in thin layers, it works best to lay thicker layers. So if you have medium sizes cracks, you will need to use a chisel or masonry drill to widen them.
Work quickly
You will need to make sure that you have all the necessary tools and materials at hand. The cement will harden in a few minutes after preparation so you will need to be fast. If you have larger areas to cover, you can prepare smaller quantities.
