Leak injection process for basements
There are many ways of repairing a basement leak, and leak injection is one of the most common options used. This method is usually used by homeowners that want to do the work by themselves. Leak injections kits are quite inexpensive and they come with instructions.
The leak injection is actually using a polyurethane solution that is usually more effective than other waterproofing techniques. The foam will need to be inserted in the cracks and then it will expand through every space in the crack. Polyurethane is one of the most chemical resistant solutions, unlike the hydraulic cement. It’s also waterproof and very resistant.
How to do it?
If you are using the kit for a home repair, then you should buy one that is low-pressure. High pressure kits are usually needed when you make extensive repairs and also frequent ones. Before applying the solution, you will need to clean the crack very well, removing all the debris and dust. Some kits also include a surface sealer that needs to be applied before the polyurethane.
After cleaning the cracks you just need to apply the polyurethane in the crack until it start oozing out. Let it dry and then you can cut it with a trimming knife. Let it dry for 24 hours.
