Waterproofing paint vs epoxy
Two of the most common used solutions for basement waterproofing are paint and epoxy. Each of the two solutions presents advantages and disadvantages so you need to analyze your needs and choose the best solution for your problem.
Material consistency
The first issue is consistency.
Uses
Both the epoxy and the paint are indoor solutions. If you have bigger problems with water infiltration, then it’s best to have the exterior of your basement sealed using some waterproofing materials. Epoxy and paint should only be used as a backup solution. They can be applied on the exterior walls of your home and then covered by a protective membrane.
Application
Because of it’s consistency, epoxy can only be applied using a brush. You cannot use a paint sprayer because it will get clogged. You can apply waterproof paint using a paint brush, a roller or a sprayer.
